Atmospheric paintings in mixed media & acrylic paints
All my work begins outside: a sketch on a walk, a bike ride or a lay-by when I’m driving. At its simplest, my kit is a folded sheet of paper and a pencil in a zip lock bag and fits in a pocket.
On a sketching outing, I carry a rucksack with charcoals, soft pastels, inks and watercolours. I also use several sketchbooks so that the 1st one can dry when I work on the others. Up to 3 in winter so my rucksack stays light.
Sketching on location invites us to stop and pay attention to our surroundings, slow down and contemplate, feel the wonder of the natural world.
My influences
Growing up in Paris, I experienced complete freedom during holidays in rural France.
I think that’s where my love of landscape and traveling comes from.
I am fascinated by the sky, the movement of clouds and the light, and how colours and seasons make the same place different every day. The sky connects us, wherever we are in the world, we all gaze at the same moon.
Art helps us connect to each other, it invites conversations and has the power to lift moods. It’s my hope my atmospheric landscapes carve positive space into your home, as if you were outside with me.
