“November Twilight”, acrylic and ink on board, 30×30cm, £330

I’m thrilled to share “Changing Light” my first solo exhibition at ArtisanAnd Gallery.

It’s a collection of 14 paintings inspired by the glow low in the sky on my walks at dusk and during travels to Skye and the North West Highlands, all between October and March.

The paintings are now live online on the gallery’s website.

“Wind Against Tide”, acrylic on canvas, 42×59cm, £495

The sky is my constant source of inspiration. I play with different ways to paint what it makes me feel, sometimes in a simplified, abstracted way, sometimes a more literal rendition of a place.

In the studio, a pause between varnishing and framing

I work with acrylic paint wet-on-wet. I love manipulating the paint so some areas of colour can be very soft, almost feathery, and others quite thick.

Sometimes I add acrylic ink to emphasise a more fluid area, I really enjoy the unpredictability it lends.
